Week 1- Hearst Mansion
So, first weeks of classes. We started off with class by learning how to mask items in Adobe Photoshop. After a few lectures given by Mr Hafiz, we moved on to our 1st exercise. Our lecturers asked "So what movies recently came out?" and someone yelled "Christopher Robin", which is the Winnie the Pooh movie.

So for the first exercise we were asked to mask Christopher Robin into the Hearst Mansion to make it look like he's there in the mansion.
Figure 1.1

After this exercise, we were told to Christopher Robin behind one of the lamps. Below is the original photo of the Hearst Mansion.
Figure 1.2 Picture of Hearst Mansion used to mask Winnie the Pooh in,

Then I started to mask Winnie into the Mansion. I first used the pen tool to select one of the lamp to mask it out to make a copy of the lamp.

Then I put the lamp to its original place and put Winnie behind the masked lamp
Figure 1.4 Winnie behind the masked lamp
Finally I added the reflection of Winnie and the masked lamp to make it look more real.

After completing this exercise, we had to photoshop ourselves into the mansion. I used this photo below.

I used the same method as above and I photoshopped myself into the Hearst Mansion.

Week 3- Haunted Mansion
This week, we had to photoshop a ghost in a mansion. A video on how to do it was posted on google classroom, so I had a rough idea on how to do it. Below were the pictures we had to put together. .

Figure 2.2 Background

Figure 2.3 The ghost Bride

During the process, I also learnt how to match the colour of the house with the background so that it blends in and at the same time, fits the mood. Below is the final outcome.

Besides the haunted house, we also had another exercise, which is to add a sunset background to the background of the house. Below were the pictures used in this exercise.

We then combined all these together to make one picture. We also matched the colour of the the house with the sunset, so that it blends in more, making it as a whole.

Week 4- Recolouring Exercise
Do you know those black and white photos that you stumble upon on and then the next thing you see, they are being coloured? Well I have, and I always wondered how they did it! And finally I got to learn how!
So for this weeks class, we learned how to recolour a black and white image. Below was a black and white portrait given by our lecturers
Figure 3.1 Black and White portrait
So after our lecturer taught us how, we tried it for ourselves. We used the brush tool and also the mixer brush tool to help blend the skin colour and the hair so that it looks more natural. Below is the outcome.
Figure 3.2 The recoloured version

After this practice, we were told to go back and recolour another black and white picture. I decided to choose a black and white picture of Morgan Freeman. Below is the original.

After choosing a black and whit portrait, I went on to recolouring it, with the colour that I thought was appropriate.

Week 5-Cloning and Distorting
This week, we started off with learning the cloning tool and healing brush. We went online and looked up a boy with pimples and we learnt to clone eyes on its forehead and also erase the pimples away. Below is the original picture.

Then we learned about the healing brush and cloning tool.

After this, we then learnt about distortion. We were taught how to add texture to a something ( a flag) to make it look real. So we tried it first under out lecturers guidance. We used the below flag and texture to try it out for the first time.

Below is the outcome of the 1st trial

Then we tried it out ourselves. I tried it out using the North Korean Flag and the Johor flag. Below are the outcomes

Week 6 -Recolouring with Patterns
This week we used what we learnt last week but instead to recolour his face using the snake skin provided.

After that, we could create hybrid animals by photoshopping arms to birds, which I decided to try. Below were the original pictures that were used.

I later masked the mans arms to put on the bird and below is my outcome.

Week 7-Castle of Pyrenees
For this weeks practice, we were introduced to a painting by Rene Magritte called the Castle of Pyrenees. Below is the original picture.
Figure 7.1 Castle of Pyrenees by René Magritte
We were then asked to recreate this painting, in our own way, using photoshop.
Honestly, I was really lost when I received the assignment, so I did it in my best way possible, kinda like a trial. Below was my 2nd attempt, I started off with a galaxy, but it did not look good.

Figure 7.2 My 2nd attempt

After I got used to and I understood more of what I was doing, I moved on to redoing it again but this time instead of using the stone, I decided to go on a different route. Instead of using the stone, I decided to replace it with a planet. I also decided to change the background. Instead of just a plain background, I decided to blend in a few elements and not just sceneries. Below are the elements I used.

Then I started to combine them all together in a unique composition. This is my final outcome.

Week 8- Recreating Dali Automicus
This week we were introduced to a surrealistic photography of Dali by Phillipe Halsman. Below is the real photograph.

Figure 8.1 Dali Atomicus
In order to recreate this photo, we were asked to take photographs outdoors by throwing stuff in the air and jumping in the air. We took out a green screen in order to take these photos.

These were some of the photos.

Then I photoshopped them together to recreate the Dali Atomicus photo.

I also decided to go for something more fun so here's an extra :P
